International Women's Day is a United Nations Observance and a national holiday in many couinties, but not in the USA.  UN Women was created in 2011 from four separate women's agencies, and headed by an Undersecretary-General.  This program celebrates the role of women and highlights issues and future possibilities.

 I am sure that as you read these lines you would agree with me that the world needs more than a little help when it comes to peace on the planet.   I am usually very optimistic when it comes to trying diplomacy rather than weapons, but from what I see and read about the Middle East, Ukraine, Russia, Africa, United States, it seems that diplomatic efforts are not having any meaningful effects lately.

Susan has been a war tax resister and war resister most of her life. She has taught children in Ukiah, California as a teacher and director of a child care program. While raising her own children, she questioned how we, as a nation, could kill children in other countries by our war making.

Edina was a overseas student majoring in Business at DeAnza College in Cupertino and Oregon State University.

Hosted by Santa Clara County Supervisor Don Cortese, Office of Human Relations, Human Relations Commission and Silicon Valley UNA-USA. At County McEntee Plaza/Breezeway, 70 W. Hedding St., San Jose, CA.  The USA and UN Flag will be raised. Speakers, music, refreshments and copies of UNDHR (United Nations Declaration of Human Rights) will be distributed.
