UN International Mother Earth Day -April 22

Our local chapter supported and celebrated Earth Day at local Earth Day events. Thank you to our volunteers at the 2013 Cupertino Earth & Arbor Day festival.

Our membership is growing daily as we share the mission of the United Nations among our fellow Americans to end the scourge of war and work for harmony among nations. Volunteers at events like this and programs make our efforts possible.

Tourism and a Sustainable Economy

Tourism for a Sustainable Economic Future

I just returned from a wonderful vacation with 3 generations of my family at the Royal Sea Cliff Resort in Kailua-Kona Hawaii. Recreation, relaxation and exploring new vistas are part of the joys of travel. Just consider this.  Those who are able to afford and enjoy travel can help those who need an economic uplift through the travel. How does this work? According to the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), China has become the largest spender in international tourism globally in 2012.

Water: Essential to Life

"Billions of people are vulnerable to water scarcity and deteriorating water quality. What's the solution? Step up water cooperation!

2013 is the International Year of Water Cooperation. See the full infographic created by our United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) colleagues here:http://ow.ly/hBMYY"

This winter of February 2013 a record snowstorm hit much of the Northeast region of North America. It reminded me of the 1979 blizzard that paralyzed much of the middle of this continent.
