World We Want - Conversations PostMDG 2015-2030

Come join this global conversation in your own neighborhood.  UN Secretary General has asked all of us, public voices, nonprofits, civil society, what are the most urgent issues our world faces after the UN Millennium Development Goals end in 2015. Find out if we've achieve or failed to reach these MDGs. Tell us where you think the most urgent issues we face. We need your input. For background go to www.worldwewant2015.org

Discussion will be led by our SVUNA GenUN Youth leaders. They are our future but we can help shape the direction and focus.

UN International Mother Earth Day -April 22

Our local chapter supported and celebrated Earth Day at local Earth Day events. Thank you to our volunteers at the 2013 Cupertino Earth & Arbor Day festival.

Our membership is growing daily as we share the mission of the United Nations among our fellow Americans to end the scourge of war and work for harmony among nations. Volunteers at events like this and programs make our efforts possible.

Water: Essential to Life

"Billions of people are vulnerable to water scarcity and deteriorating water quality. What's the solution? Step up water cooperation!

2013 is the International Year of Water Cooperation. See the full infographic created by our United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) colleagues here:http://ow.ly/hBMYY"

This winter of February 2013 a record snowstorm hit much of the Northeast region of North America. It reminded me of the 1979 blizzard that paralyzed much of the middle of this continent.

Hurricane Sandy and Climate Change

Hurricane Sandy cut a wide swath of destruction from the Carribean through the USA Eastern Seaboard. Many have noticed the increasing severity of climate related phenomena like this.  We experience these within our own region, but major disasters do not respect national boundaries.  It will take international cooperation to spot, alert and prepare for such disasters.  Find out more about how this works.
