Discussion will be led by our SVUNA GenUN Youth leaders. They are our future but we can help shape the direction and focus.
SVUNA Youth presents Claire Lu, a junior at Monta Vista High School, who talks about her summer spent offering micro-finance loans to Hui villagers in China. The Hui are a Muslim ethnic minority there. Claire is is a SVUNA Youth leader, a Model UN officer at her school, and a student ambassador with the San Francisco World Affairs Council.
Second half of program is a discussion of youth activities and plans,led by Tony Pan.

Our local chapter supported and celebrated Earth Day at local Earth Day events. Thank you to our volunteers at the 2013 Cupertino Earth & Arbor Day festival.

In her International Women's Day address, Jane Roberts will highlight the work of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), the largest reproductive health and family planning agency in the world. For Jane, there can be no gender equality without access to reproductive health.

This winter of February 2013 a record snowstorm hit much of the Northeast region of North America. It reminded me of the 1979 blizzard that paralyzed much of the middle of this continent.

1. President Shirley Lin Kinoshita spoke on Nov. 15, 2012 to SEIU 521, retired public workers in San Jose on the status of women and girls, locally and world-wide. In 2011, Shirley attended the UN 55th Commission on the Status of Women in NYC as a WILPF delegate. WILPF is world's oldest and largest women's peace and justice organization.
